Cutthorpe Institute Update

We are looking to expand the facilities with the addition of an outside area, this is moving forward with the support of the local parish council. The hall is available to support up and coming events in the village such as fundraising events for the children’s play equipment and the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations If anyone has any general queries regarding the Institute, please feel free to contact me at mike.robotham@hotmail.co.uk, or on 07802243265. Booking the Institute Jane Johnstone has now taken over the management of bookings for the Institute from Barbara Stringer. You can contact her on jane.johnstone@hotmail.co.uk, 07984 647109 As a reminder, the main room is 12.5m by 5.5m, can seat 60 people comfortably and has a maximum capacity of 100. Its the perfect venue for parties, clubs, and social gatherings of all sorts.

The Cutthorpe Kids Baby Group

The Cutthorpe Kids team have started a new baby group for families in Cutthorpe and the surrounding area. The group is at 9.30 on Wednesdays at the Three Merry Lads. Everyone is welcome and the group is run on a “pay as you can” donation basis. There is free tea and coffee for the grown ups and lots of lovely toys for the baby’s. There’s also baked goods available at a small cost, so bring some pennies for a nice slice of cake.

Cutthorpe choir

John Thurstan’s choir, “The Merry Lads and Lassies”, is planning to start up again in September. They meet on a Friday evening 7.30-9.00 in the Village Institute and always welcomes new recruits - no audition, anyone can join. If you are interested do come along or contact John on 231336, email j_w_thurstan@hotmail.com .

Discussion Group

John Robinson’s successful Discussion and Dining group, includes a simple inexpensive meal and a topic for discussion. Held on the last Tuesday of the month at The Peacock. A previous meeting had a discussion on What we can do in Cutthorpe to help the Environment. This produced a list of ideas which can be downloaded here. This group is now managed by Tom Johnstone, contact 07774 932395 or johnstonetom@hotmail.co.uk
