Local Walks
As well as being close to the Peak District National Park, home to a countless number of walking trails, Cutthorpe itself has many beautiful walks within and around the village. We’ve listed some of our favourites here, with links to other local directories:

Visit Linacre Water
A key attraction to Cutthorpe is Linacre Water, also known as Linacre Reservoir, where you can explore ancient woodlands and natural wildlife.
Historically, these three reservoirs supplied water to the nearby town of Chesterfield. However, they became non-operational in 1995 and today they’re managed for visitors and wildlife and provide a popular local amenity.
Nuthatches, flycatchers and woodpeckers can be seen and heard as they flit among the canopy. Kingfishers and mandarin ducks can be spotted around the waters edge.
Activities at Linacre include cycling, birdwatching, walking and horse riding. The beautiful, tranquil scenery by the water makes for the perfect family day out to stop for a picnic and take in the breathtaking views.
Eat and Drink
You’ll find two pubs within Cutthorpe Village, as well as being surrounded by many more from across our neighbouring villages in Derbyshire and the Peak District.
Within our village, there’s the Peacock Inn and Three Merry Lads, both traditional country pubs serving classic dishes and local ales.
The village also proudly boasts the Cutthorpe Creamery, which has a lovely farmshop and cafe selling local produce from its dairy farm.
Just outside of Cutthorpe, you’ll find The Peacock at Barlow and The Tickled Trout, not forgetting the countless pubs, bars and restaurants in the nearby Chesterfield.
