Cutthorpe is a small picturesque village with superb views over Chesterfield, which is about 3 miles south-east. It spreads along 3 miles of the B6050 to the east of and is close to the Peak District National Park. There are 3 pubs, a village school, recreation ground with a cricket square, the Village Institute plus the Linacre Reservoirs with beautiful bluebell woods and surrounding walks. An annual festival is held over the 2nd weekend in July together with the traditional well dressing ceremony. Well Dressing

The theme this year is ‘The Wizard of Oz’ The frame will be erected on Saturday 6th July, at the same time as putting up the bunting, meet 10.00 am at the top of Common Lane. With both tasks going on at the same time we are going to need as many willing helpers as possible so please come along. Cutthorpe, Holme Hall and Linacre WI which started as Cutthorpe WI in 1941 has unfortunately had to close as it was not able to increase its membership sufficiently to continue. Thank you everyone past and present who has worked so hard over the years for Cutthorpe WI. Village Charity We are delighted to confirm that the Charity Commission have approved the application of the Cutthorpe Village Charity. Although the formal name of the charity is set it would be good to have a more descriptive working name. One suggestion so far is 'Cutthorpe forward' if you have any ideas, please do let us know. See the Charity page for more details and Q&A’s. Cutthorpe Choir Currently meeting at the Village Institute on Friday evenings 7.30-9.00 pm. Following the successful Christmas entertainment they are now working on the Festival performance for Friday evening, 9th July in the Marquee. Anyone is welcome to join - for more information phone John on 231336 or email j_w_thurstan@hotmail.com Cutthorpe Creatives May meeting will be Jane’s Mystery evening, 12th June, 7.00 pm at the Institute, come along and join in. Cutthorpe Calendar 2019 Unfortunately a printer’s error was only spotted too late to get it reprinted (many having already been sold) and the November dates are showing a repeat of October! A replacement self-adhesive sheet has been produced to cover this over, so if you haven’t already got yours please contact Jane Johnstone (jane.johnstone@hotmail.co.uk) who will let you have replacement pages.
